What is Ollie? How to practice and master the Ollie technique?
The one of the most fundamental and iconic skateboarding tricksIis Ollies . The Ollie allows you to lift the skateboard off the ground, giving you the freedom to jump over obstacles, perform tricks, and add style to your riding. Here's how you can practice and master the Ollie technique:
Foot Placement: Start by positioning your back foot on the tail of the skateboard with your toes hanging slightly off the edge. Your front foot should be placed just behind the front bolts, angled diagonally across the deck.
Crouch and Pop: Begin by crouching down, bending your knees, and preparing to generate power. As you begin to rise, simultaneously pop the tail of the skateboard down forcefully with your back foot while sliding your front foot quickly towards the nose of the board.
Drag and Level Out: As you slide your front foot forward, drag it up towards the nose of the board, applying pressure to the grip tape. This action helps level out the board in the air. At the same time, extend your back leg and bring your knees up towards your chest to bring the board up with you.
Keep Balanced: While in the air, focus on keeping your body centered and balanced over the skateboard. This will help you maintain control and stability.
Land Smoothly: As the board reaches its peak height, prepare to land. Extend your legs slightly to absorb the impact and aim to land with both feet on the board, ideally over the bolts. Bend your knees upon landing to cushion the impact and maintain stability.
Practice, Practice, Practice: The key to mastering the Ollie is repetition and consistency. Start by practicing on flat ground and gradually progress to practicing while moving. Take your time to understand the timing, coordination, and balance involved in executing a clean Ollie.
Remember, mastering the Ollie takes time, patience, and dedication. It's a trick that requires practice to develop muscle memory and improve your technique. Don't get discouraged if it takes a while to get it right. Keep practicing, stay determined, and have fun along the wa
